Our first principle
You own your technology. Foundry manages it.
Plenty of providers register your domain in their name, run your Microsoft tenant under their partner account, and keep the documentation in their heads. It’s not always malicious, but it always ends the same way: leaving becomes so painful you don’t. Foundry does the opposite, on purpose.
What you own, in black and white
| Asset | Who holds it |
|---|---|
| Domains | Registered in your name, at a registrar account you own. |
| Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace | Your tenant, your billing relationship. Foundry holds delegated admin access. |
| Cloud accounts | Your subscription or account wherever practical. Foundry administers it. |
| Website and code | Yours. Source, content and hosting configuration are handed over on request. |
| Data | Yours, always. Exportable in standard formats whenever you ask. |
| Passwords and credentials | Held in a vault you own, with Foundry access that can be revoked. |
| Documentation | Yours. The record of your environment goes with you. |
Where a platform makes customer-owned accounts impractical, we say so up front and document the arrangement, rather than quietly registering it to ourselves.
What happens if I decide to leave?
The question most MSPs hope you won’t ask. Here’s the answer.
01
You tell us you're leaving
No exit fee for your own assets. Notice terms are in your contract, and they're there to give us time to hand over properly, not to trap you.
02
We hand over the documentation
The complete record of your environment — accounts, devices, licences, vendors, network, DNS, runbooks — is already yours. We make sure it's current.
03
We transfer administrative access
Delegated admin access to your tenant, cloud and registrar accounts is passed to you or your next provider, and Foundry's access is revoked. You can verify it.
04
Your data stays exactly where it is
Because it was always in your systems, nothing needs migrating out of Foundry. Backups are exported or transferred on your instruction.
05
We hand over to your next provider properly
A proper handover conversation, not a deleted inbox. If your next provider is any good, they'll thank us for the documentation.
Why we’d build it this way
Lock-in is what providers reach for when they’re not confident you’d stay otherwise. We’d rather be the provider you stay with because the environment is documented, secure, tested and quiet — and because we’d be the first to tell you if it wasn’t. Ownership is item 01 of the Foundry Standard for a reason.
